We are very happy to be back on the road and heading towards Alaska. \u00a0I do have to admit to a few bumps, but overall the trip has gone as planned. \u00a0As for our bumps I refer to my “Rule of Three”. My “Rule of Three” is that I always forget to pack three items. \u00a0This trip has not deviated from the rule. \u00a0The main item I forgot is my medications for the next 3 months. \u00a0What a horrible thing to leave sitting on the kitchen counter. Thankfully, my husband was willing to drive 3 house to catch up with us in Pennsylvania so we could continue our trip. Our second item wasn’t as critical, but still urgent. \u00a0Somehow my youngest’s booster seat was taken out of our Jeep. \u00a0I didn’t discover it until our second day when we went Krogers to pick up groceries. Which leads to our last item. I managed to leave without any of the frozen and refrigerated items we had stocked up on. \u00a0At least I got my three items out of the way quickly. Roads have been in great condition until we hit Indiana. \u00a0We had the same problem last year. \u00a0Concrete roads with poor repairs. \u00a0We had to slow down considerably. \u00a0If we weren’t slowing down for the roads, we were slowing down to winds. \u00a0When we were driving through Illinois we had a buffeting crosswind through the entire state and it continued into Iowa.<\/p>\n

On to reviews of the last three RV parks we stayed at. \u00a0Since we are self contained this year we won’t be reporting much on bathrooms or laundry facilities. \u00a0On Friday we stayed at Fox Den Acres<\/a> located in New Stanton, PA. \u00a0 We loved the location as we were tucked into the Pennsylvania hills and surrounded by wooded areas and a large lake, several ponds, and a nice little creek. \u00a0We were in site 108<\/a> which was a very level pull through will full hook ups and long enough to leaved the Toad hooked up. \u00a0 Be prepared for a short steep downhill road to the campground. \u00a0The one negative was cell signal. \u00a0We didn’t have a signal on our AT&T phone or Verizon Mifi. \u00a0We ran into a wonderful gentleman with 2 golden retrievers he had rescued. \u00a0One was Shadow and the other was Gigi. \u00a0Needless to say Nana and I both enjoyed our time spent visiting with them.<\/p>\n

KOA in Bluffton, IN<\/p><\/div>\n

Saturday we crossed through Ohio and stayed at the KOA in Bluffton, IN. \u00a0The kids were very excited to arrive as we got to check off another state off the to be visited list. \u00a0We were in site 205 which was a very level pull through with full hook ups. \u00a0Wifi at no charge and excellent signal. \u00a0ATT\/Verizon signal was excellent as well. \u00a0Graveled spaces with trimmed trees with a picnic table. \u00a0Toad could stay hooked up which is always a plus. This KOA had a great play ground and a heated pool which we didn’t get to go in as we had to run to Walmart (15 min away) and Krogers (10 min away). \u00a0They had recommended eating at the Corner Depot near Krogers but we ended up skipping it. \u00a0Pets are welcome but there is no designated play area. \u00a0Our neighbors had a 3 year old boston terrier and a 3 month old english bulldog. \u00a0The one negative is the gravel entrance road appears to be coated with oil or some other substance. \"P1000716\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Sunday we crossed Illinois and stayed at the Interstate RV Park in Davenport, IA. \u00a0Again, the kids were thrilled to arrive and check off another state off the list. \u00a0 We were in site 61 which, again, was a very level pull through with full hookups. \u00a0One negative is that we had to connect to water on the other side of the RV and had to share the water. \u00a0Thankfully they spaced everyone out so no one was next to each other when possible. \u00a0Playground could use some upgrading and the pool was out of order. \u00a0Wifi was at no charge with an excellent signal. \u00a0ATT\/Verizon both had excellent signals. \u00a0Graveled spaces with trimmed trees with a picnic table. \u00a0Our site had a cement pad as well (needs to be fixed). \u00a0Toad could continue to be connected and you could borrow dvds\/whs movies for free. \u00a0There is some noise from the interstate but we didn’t have any problems.
