{"id":119,"date":"2013-06-23T02:07:55","date_gmt":"2013-06-23T02:07:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/roadtrip.meenan.us\/?p=119"},"modified":"2013-06-23T15:42:01","modified_gmt":"2013-06-23T15:42:01","slug":"horsin-around","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/roadtrip.meenan.us\/?p=119","title":{"rendered":"Horsin&#8217; around"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The boys and I decided we were a bit tired of all the hustling we did Friday, so we decided to relax a bit more today. \u00a0Today (Sun, June 16) was all about horses. \u00a0The boys are totally different when it comes to animals. \u00a0Brian is hands on when he realizes that there isn&#8217;t anything to be afraid of and Sean prefers to look with his eyes not his hands.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_120\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/roadtrip.meenan.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_0595.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-120\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-120\" alt=\"Sean in Action\" src=\"https:\/\/roadtrip.meenan.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_0595-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-120\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sean in Action<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Since we visited the horses the night before and gave them some treats, Sean was willing to give riding one a try. \u00a0This completely shocked me as he rarely even touches the dog at home. \u00a0It might have something to do with the fact that the dog likes to lick and the horses don&#8217;t. \u00a0Susan, the trail boss for our ride, patiently explained to both boys about how horses are part of the food chain and that they know we are meat eaters and how if we are scared of the horses they will think there is an even bigger predator out there and they will be scared. \u00a0Sean soaked it all in and then listened carefully as they explained how to guide the horses. \u00a0Brian was listening very closely. \u00a0He was all excited over a mule.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_121\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/roadtrip.meenan.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_0619.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-121\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-121\" alt=\"Brian and Hank \" src=\"https:\/\/roadtrip.meenan.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_0619-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-121\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Brian and Hank<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Brian got to ride a mule called Hank. \u00a0When we were feeding them carrots Friday, Brian asked about the &#8220;horse&#8221; with the long ears. \u00a0I explained about mules and how they are cross breeding of a donkey and a horse. \u00a0All Brian talked about for the remainder of the night was hoping to get to ride him. \u00a0Needless to say, when Susan said he would ride him, Brian was ecstatic. \u00a0Brian had so much fun that he was complaining that the one hour ride was too short.<\/p>\n<p>We left promising to come back later with treats for the horses. \u00a0When we did pop back in I mentioned how much Brian loved it and how he wanted to do a 2 hour ride but that Sean was happy with his one ride. \u00a0They offered to take him (on Hank of course) and Brian was pleading. So while Brian was\u00a0galavanting\u00a0around, \u00a0Sean and I were at the trailer. \u00a0He enjoyed his Ipad time and I got the never-ending pile of laundry to take care of.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/roadtrip.meenan.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_0618.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-122\" alt=\"IMG_0618\" src=\"https:\/\/roadtrip.meenan.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_0618-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Needless to say Brian thoroughly enjoyed his day of riding. \u00a0Susan mentioned how Brian has a good seat and that we should check into lessons. \u00a0Brian was beaming ear to ear. \u00a0He gave Hank a few carrots and all he talked about was how we should move here so when he is 16 he can work on the ranch and do trail rides.
